About us

SHIFT CARE prepares doctoral students for education and research related to Integrated Care in universities, university colleges, and healthcare settings. The doctoral school is jointly run by four higher education institutions: the University of Gothenburg, the University of Borås, the University of Skövde, and University West.

SHIFT CARE is a doctoral school focused on advancing knowledge that, through learning and research, supports the transition towards Integrated Care for people of different ages with complex healthcare needs. This involves care that is proactive, health-promoting, and person-centred; makes use of digital and hybrid solutions; strives to provide high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable care; and enables seamless collaboration across the entire continuum of care.

Our ambition is for the doctoral school to become a natural academic home for doctoral students whose research projects focus on Integrated Care, and for participation to provide excellent opportunities for collaboration with other doctoral students and researchers in the field. The doctoral school also offers opportunities to establish both national and international networks and collaborations.

The doctoral school is governed by a steering committee with representatives from all four higher education institutions. It is also supported by a broader reference group comprising representatives from healthcare organisations, professional groups, and civil society, as well as a scientific advisory board consisting of researchers with expertise in Integrated Care.
