The research school SHIFT CARE
SHIFT CARE – Swedish researcH school in Integrated CARE for Future Teachers focuses on knowledge development that, through learning and research, supports the transition to integrated care for people of different ages with complex care needs. The graduate school is run jointly by four higher education institutions: the University of Gothenburg, the University of Borås, the University of Skövde, and University West.
Integrated care refers to healthcare that is person-centred, health-promoting, and proactive, makes use of digital and hybrid solutions, strives to provide cost-effective, sustainable, high-quality care, and facilitates seamless collaboration across the entire continuum of care. Teaching is provided by faculty members from the collaborating higher education institutions, with contributions from international experts.
Doctoral students admitted to the research school are enrolled in the regular doctoral education programme at one of the four collaborating higher education institutions and follow the general study plan of that institution. Participation in the research school runs in parallel with the regular doctoral education programme, and the research school’s programme of courses, residential seminars, seminars, and international exchanges is carried out within the framework of elective courses.
The programme is designed to prepare doctoral students to conduct cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, to pursue careers in higher education with a focus on close care at universities and other higher education institutions, and to engage in teaching in close collaboration with healthcare and social care organisations.
