SHIFT CARE – National Research School in Integrated Care

SHIFT CARE focuses on advancing knowledge through education and research to support the transition towards  integrated care for people of all ages with complex care needs. This approach to care is proactive, health-promoting and person-centred, makes use of digital and hybrid solutions, strives to provide high-quality, cost-effective and sustainable care, and facilitates seamless collaboration across the entire continuum of care.

SHIFT CARE is a national research school run in collaboration between four higher education institutions: the University of Gothenburg, the University of Borås, the University of Skövde and University West.

Who can apply?

We are currently inviting doctoral students who are enrolled in doctoral education at a Swedish higher education institution, whose research projects focus on integrated care, and who would like to become part of our research school.

The research school welcomes doctoral students from a wide range of academic disciplines whose research projects relate to person-centred integrated care. To fully benefit from the research school programme, it is preferable that you have not yet completed your mid-way review.

Participation in the research school runs in parallel with your regular doctoral education. The SHIFT CARE programme includes courses, residential seminars, seminars and opportunities for international exchange.

Courses

The research school includes two compulsory courses, which are undertaken as part of the elective courses within the doctoral programme in which you are enrolled. Places are reserved for doctoral students admitted to SHIFT CARE on the following courses:

• Person-Centred Integrated Care – From Theory to Practice (7.5 credits)
• Teaching and Learning in Person-Centred Integrated Care (5 credits)

The course Person-Centred Integrated Care in Theory and Practice (5 credits), offered by the Research School in Person-Centred Integrated Care in the South-Eastern Healthcare Region, may be credited in place of the first course listed above.

What does SHIFT CARE offer?

The programme is designed to prepare you as a doctoral student to conduct interdisciplinary research, pursue educational and teaching roles related to integrated care at universities and other higher education institutions, and work in close collaboration with healthcare and social care organisations.

Our ambition is for the research school to become a natural academic community for doctoral students whose research focuses on person-centred integrated care, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration with other doctoral students and researchers in the field. As part of the research school, you will also have opportunities to establish both national and international networks and collaborations.
